Wasteful Things.....

Today someone stopped me in the middle of my hectic work day, to point out that I had left my boss's lamp on in their office for an entire week and what a tremendous waste of energy this was.  I had meant to turn it off on Monday when I noticed it was on, but had gotten distracted with all things related to my very busy job, and forgot all about it.  To the person who pointed it out to me, however, it seemed to be at the top of their priority list, so I took the time to listen to their mini lecture on energy efficiency.

This little incident got me to thinking....life is a series of distractions that pull us from doing things that matter.  To the person who cares about sustainability, leaving the light on is a big deal, and it was important enough for them to come and tell me about it.  I turned the light off, and eliminated the electrical waste that was so obviously bothering them.

This made me think though; wouldn't it be great if we could eliminate other waste in our life like this, and remove unnecessary distraction?  I could think of a few things I would like to turn off so that I could do more things that I enjoy.    Maybe some meeting invites, or little rules that don't make sense in the big scheme of my work would be a great starting place for this "switch off".   How about you?  What would you
eliminate?

Just my cubicle musings for today......

Fondly,
